Secularity: A myth

Yesterday, while I was out with my friend, standing outside another friend's place, I experienced something that has brought splashes of thoughts in my head since then.

Three kids who probably live in the same locality, standing right behind us, slowly started murmuring, 'Pakistan chor hai' (Pakistan is a thief) and something more that we couldn't hear. Hearing this, I and my friend shared a glance and ignored.

He kept saying that slowly, I turned back to look at him once, the other kid standing next to him motioned him to let him know I was looking. We were just about to enter the door when he shouted again (deliberately) and this time even more loudly, 'Pakistan chor hai'. (Pakistan is a thief)

We did not react, because they were just kids, not more than 10-11 years of age. But the reason he was shouting that, was because I was standing there, in a hijab, and he thought I belonged to Pakistan.

The incident may sound funny, but when you look at the darker side, you see the kind of non-secular discussions being raised between the parents/family members in front of their children. It is clearly not the fault of the kids, it is what the adults are conveying and this is the kind of generation being brought up. We are no more moving towards being more secular, the graph is only decreasing.

Sigh.

  1. Whatever had done by those children, is very wrong but this is the reflection of their parent's ideology. And this type of ideology comes only from our so called secular politicians,Who just want to radicalise the society and devide us for the vote bank politics.

Please Don't think bad about those children ...we all are Indians ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

  2. The kids are obviously not at fault! I've mentioned the same above. It is what they are hearing at home, from the adults around them. And this makes me really sad that these are the kind of mindsets being raised. Secularity is just ending.

    1. Secularity is not going to be end but some people's are trying to decrease the value of it.
We should have positivity in our mind. We are responsible to maintain the value of the secularity because this is considered in the core values of india culture as well as the Constitution of India ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  3. I really felt it after reading your blog, that how eventually this country and its people are going down the lane towards racism and nonsecular beliefs. This is really high time when they should teach their younger ones that Muslims are part of India, they participate in making India what it is as same as any Hindu. And they should know this too that Pakistan doesn't mean Muslims, it means a country which has Muslims in majority, Hindus and is ruled by some biased politicians and traitor Army. Its the government their, not the people. I wish they understand this ASAP before this bacterial thinking rottens their growing mind.
